On a grey and overcast Saturday morning the great and the good of Bilbrook gathered to take part in the Great Bilbrook Spring Clean. The event is a National one coordinated by the organisation with the somewhat outdated title of Keep Britain Tidy – Britain is hardly tidy. Due to the ‘Beast from the East’ the originally planned date had to be postponed as all the litter was covered in snow.
24 Volunteers turned up including 2 police Officers and 7 cadets from Staffordshire Police. Everyone was given a patch to litter pick and 2 hours later the village looked lovely. 23 bags of rubbish and other items were collected, particularly grotty spots in Orchard Land and behind the bus shelter on Birches Road were given the FoB treatment and now look a lot better than they did yesterday.
Once everything was handed back in and everyone was accounted for, we all piled in to Bilbrook Village Hall for a hot cup of tea and well deserved biscuits.
Thank you to everyone who turned up, especially the Police Cadets who looked very smart indeed and are a credit to Staffs Police.
