A very productive day yesterday at the Jubilee Wood.
Great British Bird Watch
Firstly we held the RSPB’s Great British Bird Watch with notable species such as redwing, song thrush, cole tit, kingfisher and many others seen.
Thank you Greggs
Then we planted up our community orchard. 13 fruit trees were planted including apple, pear, plum and gage. The orchard will bear fruit for anyone to pick and what’s left will provide a winter food source for the wildlife which lives in the wood. The money for the trees was kindly donated to us from the Greggs foundation.
We finished off with a nice hot drink and toasted marsh mallows on our new fire pit. We would like to give a big thank you to all those who gave up their spare time to make this all possible.
Years of pleasure
Hopefully the orchard will give many years of pleasure and nutrition to the visitors and inhabitants of Jubilee Wood.
