On Wednesday 10th July 2019 we were joined by volunteers from Plastic Omnium who are based in Tamworth. They spent the day with us down by the Moat Brook pulling out the invasive plant, Himalayan Balsam.
Thousands of plants
They made a massive impact on there area, pulling out thousands of plants and have cleared a huge area stretching from the footbridge near the Twentyman Playing fields all the way downstream to the end of the sewage treatment plant.
The area they cleared allowed volunteers from JLR, who joined us the following Friday, to get to an area which we haven’t cleared before. Thousands of plants have been cleared which will mean indigenous plants can recolonise the area and provide new habitats for our beleaguered wildlife.
A Well Deserved Pint
Everyone had a great time and the weather was very good, if somewhat muggy. We finished off in the Woodman Inn for a well deserved pint!
