TBC Himalayan Balsam Bash

Come and help control the spread of Himalayan balsam along the Moat Brook.  Himalayan Balsam is an invasive species which out competes all the other plants on the river bank.  This means that the British wildlife which relies on these plants for sources of food etc have to look elsewhere.  Balsam grows very tall then dies back in Winter leaving the river banks bare.  This bare soil is then washed downstream causing flooding issues and silting up the river beds destroying breeding grounds for fish.  The Friends of BIlbrook will be having regular sessions along the banks of Moat Brook to eradicate the balsam.  If you wish to join us please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
